The main function of the National Savings Department is to motivate the people to save and to finance the government's budget deficit by extracting the small savings of the scattered people through the National Savings Scheme. To this end, the National Savings Divisional Office, Kurigram has set a target of raising Tk. 45 crore in the current fiscal year 2020-21 through National Savings Scheme; In contrast, the financial year achieved Rs 57.4155 crore, Which is 128% of the target. If this trend of sales continues, it will be possible to achieve the target in the next financial year. Similarly, in the last 2018-19 and 2019-2020 financial years, the target for raising savings through National Savings Scheme was Rs. 38.00 crore and Rs. 48.00 crore respectively; In contrast, the gains were Rs 47.3585 crore and Rs 30.4095 crore respectively; Which is 125% and 63% of the target This trend of achieving the target in the past years was also satisfactory. Moreover, the National Savings Scheme Online Management System has been launched under the program titled 'Strengthening Government Expenditure Management: Maintaining Continuity of Priority Activities (PEMS)' implemented by the Ministry of Finance, Finance Department. As a result, savings certificates have been scrapped with the introduction of EFT in the transaction activities of the National Savings Scheme.
